Prince and Purple Rain: 40 Years (The Great Albums) Hardcover – May 21, 2024

After reading other reviews about the initial cover of the book, I decided to strategically cut the cellophane wrapper in order to preserve the beautiful purple velvet cover. The smell of a new book is amazing, lol sorry I love new books. I love the pictures and the story as you go down memory lane to the build up and anticipation waiting for Purple Rain to drop. I always had my nose in magazines and MTV looking for any info on the leaks about the Purple Rain movie and soundtrack. Some of the pictures I remember from teen magazines I still have. The ticket stubs gave me goosebumps as I remember a summer vacation 1984 and my Aunt took me to see Purple Rain. I already knew who Prince was from listening to him on the radio but to see him on the big screen I was hooked even more. This 40th anniversary Purple Rain book is something every Prince fam and fan should have. Yes there's a difference between fams and fans, now back to the book. I'm pleased with the time Andrea took recap the moments Prince and the Revolution experienced in that era, greatly appreciate it. Makes you feel as though you were there and re-live your own experiences. The pictures are priceless catching those expressions on Prince's I love it. So to all those who have Prince and his music in your heart treat yourself to this beautiful book, keep it safe and treasure it. It does not disappoint 💜💜💜💜

Everything about this book is amazing! Its hardcover full of everything "Prince and Purple Rain so why would you not want to buy it! I was so excited to get it today just in time for his birthday June 7th! I have many books about Prince but this one here is definitely one you will regret not getting and the price, wow! I definitely would have paid more for it. It's like a treasure chest full of stories, pictures an memoribilia of Prince and Purple Rain and it comes in the Purple faux suede case absolutely beautifully made. Thank you Andrea Swensson and Maya Rudolph for creating this wonderful masterpiece, I have to purchase another one for my guest to read and keep this one for my private collection!Prince Roger's Nelson - We will luv and miss you 4ever and we will never let your legacy die, rest in power Purple Majesty!

It’s G R E A T however the case it comes in is covered in a purple felt type material and then sealed in plastic. It seems that if other objects rub on it hard or something stacked on top of it an impression can be left on the surface. Had several lines on the front that toned down some after using a microfiber cloth. On the back it had part of the number 4 and part of the image of the star ⭐️ sticker that is on the outside of the plastic covering on it. The cloth helps a little but you can still see it. The final thing is the star sticker on the back plastic covering that describes the book is secured on the outside of the plastic cover. It would have been nice to have this embossed on the book or loose inside the plastic. I don’t want to damage or discard it as it really a nice part of the book. The book itself was pristine. So if you’re picky about your P items be aware.

Had to grab a copy of this book to go with the new 4K version of Purple Rain that's coming out this week. I'm still reading but have found so much more about Prince and the Revolution that I didn't know before. It was a great buy and i'm really enjoying reading it.

Purple Rain want just hit album, song and film. It defined a generation and highlighted the talent of our Modern Mozart.Andrea Swensdon's research brings out little- known info. This is THE 1980s era book to own!

Loved it, good quality in materials, excellent read for any friend of Prince

I received this book today. I just finished reading it. It is phenomenal!! An outstanding retrospective of the most influential musician in my adult lifetime (I'm 63). As a Prince superfan, this book is a welcome addition to my extensive Prince library of music, movies, and books.

Loved the service and the book

Firstly, this book is BEAUTIFUL in every way. The presentation is stunning, the writing is hypnotic, the images are first rate.At the price currently showing on Amazon, just buy it. Even if you're just a little intrigued by the man himself, or the music, or the movie....... Buy it! Buy two, in fact, because this book is a true work of art. Seriously considering getting one framed.

This is a beautiful book to honour Purple Rain’s 40th Anniversary! A must have for any Prince “fam” 💜💜💜
