Good purchase
This works so well and ease! I have bad arthritis and I was able to use without any issues and the lever to push out the dirt plug with your foot is more than I could have hoped for especially since I didn’t realize it was a feature. I live in a new development so trust me the ground is hard and this was so easy to use compared to the auger I bought for my drill. Don’t let the manual side of this scare you. It was as simple to use as you would expect, step down ( and I twisted the handle around a little) pull up and then push out the dirt plug with the lever. It’s also very sturdy so there is no fear of it breaking anytime soon.

Should work nicely, but arrived with two bent tines.
I like the concept of this tool, as I'm often pulling up plugs from one area using a full shovel and placing them elsewhere. The problem with this particular one is it arrived nicely packaged, but with two of the cutting tines bent inward. I am in the process of the replacement/return process and will update the review upon receipt and use of the replacement.

Not as good as it looks
Unlike other plug diggers, this one is very sturdy. However, the plunger to push the plug out of the digger really does not work. Spent more time with a screwdriver and garden shovel digging the plug out of the device. Also, the teeth don't hold up to any contact with roots or rocks as in the picture. Ended up doing most of the digging with the garden shovel (that stood up very well to the stones, rocks and roots)

WORKS GREAT ON MY ST AUGUSTINE GRASS!
I use this to fill in bald patches of lawn. (St Augustine spreads by runners/stolons; not seed).First, find an area of established SA, away from foot traffic and cut out your grass plugs. Then find a bare spot of lawn and cut out plugs of bare earth. Then simply exchange the plugs.Hint: use an aerosol can of cooking oil spray to coat the inside of the cutter ... this will make it easier to extract the plugs! My only dislike: the footplate used to remove the plug needs to be larger, as it's sometimes difficult to push the plug out.

Doesn't hold up.
Teeth do not hold up. Did about 35 plugs over 2 days for weed removal, and teeth are all curled in which also makes it so hard to remove plug. The plunger seems to have bent also from trying to push it down with foot so many times.

Works well in dryer soil.
This works great as long as the soil is not too wet. Too wet or too dry and it doesn't want to pull plug out of ground when you pull up. I had to tilt it sideways a bit to get it to pull out. Also, if soil was too wet, it was hard to get the plug out with the foot release. Otherwise, when you get the soil in the right condition, it works great. I'm very satisfied with it. If you're plugging a lot, make sure you get the grandchildren out there and make a game of replacing the plugs in the holes. lol
