Great player at an even better price point.!
This plays my Blu-ray Discs flawlessly. It also appears to upscale to 4K and so the picture looks better than my old player. Haven’t tested 4K discs. With a smart tv, I have no need for additional smart features. My only complaint is the super small remote, but I’m used to it now.

A solid little 4K player
I've had this player for five months now and haven't had any issues. As others have mentioned, the only drawback I see is the very, very small remote. This is a no-frills DVD/Blu ray/4K UHD player. It does what I need it to do with my current equipment. That said, it DOES NOT have the VERY latest audio & video technology, but if you are like me and don't have that latest technology in your audio system and television and don't plan to upgrade any time soon, this player will get the job done.My setup consists of a 4K UHD smart television and a 5.1 sound bar with DTS & Dolby Digital. This Magnavox player will support that setup. This player DOES NOT have Dolby ATMOS and Dolby Vision, but my setup doesn't either, so that's fine for me. Likewise, since I have a smart TV, I don't care that the player doesn't have smart capabilities.A couple other things to consider:- Make sure to use a "high speed" HDMI cable. This is needed to support 4K from the player to your TV. Probably any new HDMI cable sold these days is high speed, but check to make sure or you won't be getting the benefit of 4K!- This player plays Region 1 DVDs and Region A blu-rays in addition to 4K UHD disks. It will NOT play other DVD and Blu-ray regions (basically from outside the U.S. and Canada.) Note: 4K UHD disks are region-free regardless what country they come from. I buy disks from overseas and I already had a Blu-ray region-free player, so this Magnavox player was all I needed to add 4K capability (I have both my 4K and region-free Blu-ray players plugged into my TV.)Summary: This is a solid player for people like me who need to add 4K capabilities to their existing setup and DON'T have the "latest and greatest" TV and sound system (Essentially Dolby Vision and Dolby ATMOS) and don't plan on upgrading for at least several more years.

True 4K.Playes great, but leave video to 'auto' or the videos will be broken up.Will noy play video discs that I recoreded. Sad, I have several 100s of them I recorded.Plays pre-recorded videos DVD, BLUE-RAY and 4K. Great.

Great quality for the money
The listing is somewhat misleading because nowhere does it state that this is a refurbished product.Until you purchase it and see that the listed seller is 'Factory Refurbished'.Loads quickly, good picture quality and if all you need is a bare-bones 4K HD blu ray playerwithout streaming or wi-fi enabled this one is hard to beat for the money.the remote as most have stated in prior reviews is ridiculously tiny and if you've got kids youmay want to tie it to a stick or something so it doesnt' disappear.

Died quickly
Worked ok, but stopped playing discs after less than 4 months. Has a 1 year warranty, but I can't find any authorized service centers.

Basically just plays commercial disks
Wanted a simple BlueRay player that would play old DVDs and disks recorded on the computer. It only plays commerical disks as far as I can tell. I tried a number of different file formats and it just will not play them. Disk or Thumb Drive just will not recognize a ton of file formats. Here is what the manual says it will NOT PLAY: The following discs will not be played back on this unit.• CD-ROM • CD-I (compact disc-interactive)• DVD-RAM • VSD (video single disc)• DVD-audio • video CD• HD DVD • SVCD• SDXC memory card • microSDXC memory card• unfinalized disc • BD-RE (ver. 1.0)• BD-RE (ver. 2.1) (Recorded in BDAV format) • BD-R (ver. 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3) (Recorded in BDAV format)• BDXL™• Blu-ray Disc™ / DVD / CD / USB memory stick / SD memory card containing DivX® files• Blu-ray Disc™ / USB memory stick that contains AVCHD files• Blu-ray Disc™ / DVD hybrid disc (played back as a BD-video only)• DVD-RW/-R recorded in non compatible recording format• Super Audio CD - Only the sound on the CD layer can be heard. The sound on the high-density Super Audio CD layer cannot beheard.• Playability of dual discs is not guaranteed.• This unit cannot play back the disc content protected by Windows Media™ Digital Rights Management (DRM).• Attempting to play these discs will display “Disc not supported”.It will play JPEGs and commerical disks beautifuly. It does a great job on upscaling DVDs. That is about it though. Not worth sending it back for as cheap as it was. I will probably end up getting an LG UBK80.

Awesome little player!
This thing is much smaller than the other blue-ray players that I've owned, and that is a nice change. It also plays blue-ray discs without sounding like something has gone horribly wrong inside, like the unit I replaced. The picture is as clear as you would expect and it sounds good. I cannot speak to a 4K picture, because I don't own a TV that can display one, but it looks good to me!The only real issue with this unit is that the remote that comes with it is a tiny thing, and would be easy to lose if you aren't paying attention. We have actually rubber-banded the DVD remote to the TV remote just to make sure this doesn't happen!

Broke in 1 year
Nice price, too small remote, worked great until it randomly stopped working after 11 months. After 1 hr, it worked again for 30min or 60 min then stopped again. I'm sending back for warranty. Good customer service.
