Another great read!
Loving this and love that there’s always something new in this author’s books. My favourite author!

Three stars
I always love JP Delaney's books, and never guess the twist, however this one didn't quite hit the usual mark for me. There was little suspense and I felt it was because the aim of the plot was diluted by the intention to create a backstory for Roze and a subplot that would bring light to social issues: namely racism and the plight of refugees. It's an important subject of course but felt like more of a distraction and I thought perhaps it was meant to detract me from figuring out what was an obvious twist. This brought my rating down a notch.I was left feeling annoyed and disappointed at the end, too, because the reader doesn't actually get to find out if the supposed killer murdered the victim that the entire novel is based on and which sets the premise. I reluctantly dropped another star as a result.Reading the author's note at the end of the book I suspect that perhaps rather than come up with his own idea he loosely based this book on Daphne Du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel, which could be why it didn't read like his typical titles - because it wasn't solely his own original idea - which is a shame. It won't stop me buying his future works but I do hope he goes back to what he does well. Which is to write realistic psychological thrillers in authentic female POVs, something that comes easy to this outstanding male writer.

Enjoyed reading it
Good book. Enjoyed reading it. Agree with some reviews that the ending is a bit rushed but I still enjoyed it.

Confusing
Not sure if I liked or disliked this. There didn’t seem a point to it. It was more mystery than thriller.

“Well Written”
I found this book to be very well written…but not psychologically thrilling.
