Q: For a tea cosy or oven gloves do I need extra wadding as well as insul bright?

It says somewhere that it is heat-resistant, not heatproof, so if it is to be used to handle very hot things, it is advisable to have a layer of other insulation too (I would add a softer wadding on the side where the hands will be. Insul Bright is less flexible than some other types of wadding.)

Q: Is this safe for making bowl cosies

I would say that you can. I have made oven gloves with it and it works well.

Q: Could this be used in a sheet form to hang up in doorways to stop heat coming through? Not sunlight, just heat?

I've no idea. I keep my door shut and have hung a curtain over the door to keep the heat out. I also have blinds up at all my windows and close the curtains. If you open doors and windows you allow the heat in.
