Took a little time to get used to how to do it right
We have never used one of these things so it took a little time to get the hang of it. We tested things we knew just to see if this little thing even worked like it says. But we have tested several things we weren’t sure if we’re costume or real and we will take those in to be looked and appraised. So I think for what we wanted it for it will work out fine. Parents passed way and didn’t know if the jewelry box had fake or something real in it. Way too much to take to someone and they could pull aside what they thought was fake or real. You can’t do that it seems. Tried to just take a bag full of stuff to a pawn shop and see if they would tell me to keep it or junk it. Can’t tell plastic from a rock on some of these things. Worth a try like us. The price is right just to know a little more than we did before going in.

It works.
We got this to test "posssibles" at Crater of Diamonds, in Arkansas. We tried it on a couple of known diamond rings. It could tell they were real diamonds and it also could tell me my quartz was not. It will get lots of use.

Great set. Everything works well and at a great price.
The media could not be loaded. The Diamond tester works great. I tried it on several pieces of jewelry I have that has paperwork and I knew to be real. I also tested it on several pieces of jewelry that has cubic zirconia and it didn’t disappoint. You also get a set of scales that I found to be very accurate and a loop to help magnify those really small hard to read jewelry markings. The price is excellent for what you get. You won’t be disappointed

Stone tester measures heat conduction, useful for metals too. Decent scale and pocket magnifier.
I got this testing set to have more tools to test coins and metals with. The Diamond Selector II is an interesting thermal conduction tester that can measure conduction of any material, and it's worked well for experimentation. The scale and pocket magnifier are useful for testing on the go.Diamond Selector II worked well at detecting heat conduction of various materials. It has a copper probe with blunt end, which is heated up slightly internally, and it measures how much heat is conducted to material under test. Copper is a soft metal so shouldn't damage hard gemstones. It lets you know when it's warmed up and can have sensitivity adjusted. Instructions cover proper adjustment for room temperature and gem size. It can warn you of metal if you are touching metal plate on device and item under test, but not touching plate allows testing metals freely. It could easily dell the difference between stainless steel, copper, and silver, based on their differing heat conduction, so would be a useful tool in coin testing, in an inconspicuous spot since it will leave marks.Pocket lighted magnifier was decent. Plastic lenses worked decently, and highest magnification really could see extreme detail. UV light properly revealed hidden ink on US bills. Uses 3x LR44 watch batteries.Scale is decent. Fairly accurate. Readable display even in bright light. Different units all appear correct. Remembers unit selection when off. Can be calibrated. Lid latches firmly when being carried. Worked fine with rechargeable NiMH batteries, though display was dimmer when in dim light. I found that it nudges value to be exact when using standard weights, e.g. 100g weight and 100g weight with extra 0.1g weight both showed exactly 100.00g. Basically anything that's a multiple of 10.00g on display might be nudged to appear exact.

I like the items included in this kit.
Included is a hardness tester to test stones, a scale for weighing gems, and loupe for checking the fine details of the stone. The scale and loupe work well, but there are mixed reviews and results with the hardness tester. Mine seemed to work fine, although mileage may vary without having a known reference to test its accuracy.
