Very nice!
This is an excellent book and I highly recommend this to students studying history for help with exams or essays. Anyone interested in history and wants an introduction into Japanese history should read this book too

A historical account of Japan’s history
The book presents one theory of the origins of the modern day Japanese, starting with the Jomon 10,000 BCE.It is more historical account rather than an in depth analysis of Japan’s past. The material is presented in simple English and is easily followed. Great for history buffs who are eager to learn more about Japan’s early settlers, or a refresher on the country’s history.I would have preferred a discourse on various competing theories, including more recent material based on research from DNA evidence obtained from the Japanese population as a contrast to the Jomon theory.History buffs who are up to date on these more recent developments would probably disagree with the initial chapters in the book covering the Jomon period.Nonetheless, the author has done a great job painting a mental picture of Japan’s socioeconomic developments from ancient history to the death of Emperor Hirohito in 1989; despite the lack of varied discourse from an early anthropological perspective.

Listless information dump not for everyone
I almost didn't review this at all but ultimately decided to because I think people should know what they're paying for.So, the good: this book does indeed provide the history of Japan, as the title promises. The less good: It's an information dump with no real insight or narrative flare. It's basically like reading a Wiki article in book form. If that's what you want, go for it, but I don't know why I wouldn't just ask an AI or read Wikipedia articles for free. I'd get essentially the same thing. In this age of free online information, I read books because I want different insights and perspective, plus writing that feels energetic, engaging, and human.I give it 3 stars because it ultimately does what the title says and it feels unfair to me to bash it too harshly, but I also have to say I have zero interest in reading any of the other titles from this publisher.I have to say that I suspect this was just produced by AI. I don't know that, obviously, but that is my impression. So, even if it's not written by AI, it reads as though it is, and that in itself is enough to make me lose interest.

BOOK IS WRITTEN BY AI
This book is clearly written by AI. The bibliography does not state any sources, but is an AI-written explanation of what a bibliography is. Other parts of the book are clearly also written in AI. Don’t get scammed.

a comprehensive overview of japan's history
This book offers a thorough exploration of Japan's history, presenting key events and figures in an easy-to-follow format. I was particularly impressed by how it covered the cultural and political transitions through different periods, such as the rise of the samurai and the impact of the Meiji Restoration. It provides valuable insights for anyone wanting to understand Japan’s historical development and its global influence.
