I love halogen lighting. I feel the color temperature given off by them offers the most attractive golden amber hue that LED’s struggle to replicate and simply are not achievable by CFL and Incandescent bulbs.That being said, halogen bulbs are extremely hard to come by today as manufacturers have shifted towards more energy efficient lighting, which there is nothing wrong with.I got these after much trial and error trying to find a bulb that fit in recessed lighting fixtures, while offering dimmability. LED’s, even the ones stating they were dimmable, only brought me problems. CFL’s are just not dimmable at all and I couldn’t find one that fit properly in the fixture. And incandescent, well they’re harder to find than these were. Then these popped up and they checked every box. Are they more power hungry? Yeah unfortunately. Do they run hotter than most standard bulbs today? Oh yeah. But in terms of my needs, they fit the bill perfectly, and remind me of the lighting in nicer homes and businesses of the 90s and before.

They only fit into a small, specific size fixture. They could be a little brighter

Work well in vent a hood

I have a 30 year old ceiling fan and light fixture in my bedroom that the light fixture starts blinking unless there is enough of a current load on it and four 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs do not provide a adequate load. One of these halogen bulbs in the fixture along with 3 LED bulbs provide a adequate load for proper operation. A considerable fan replacement cost if incandescent/halogen bulbs are no longer available and they are getting scarce except for a few specialty bulbs such as this one.

I need a PAR16 60W bulb for specialty lighting location. Satco quit making these PAR 16 (no. S2201 ). I thought I was going to have to go with LED, but then saw these and decided to take a chance. The Satco lamps barely fit into the can light and so I was concerned these might be too large (diameter) or a little too tall (height), but no worries - they fit perfectly and the light appears to be warm white 2700-2800° Kelvin!
