Firm enough to sit on, but has enough give to be a comfortable footrest, and I'm not a small person by any means. I initially bought one to stick in the passenger side footwell of my car, so my furbaby has a comfortable place to sit/lay down in my car, and is within pettable reach. But, I ended up buying another one to put under my office desk. I like to recline back a little when reading documents, and this provides sufficient leg support, while being light enough to be moved around easily. The packaging says to let it expand for a day or so, but mine expanded fully within just a few minutes. I let it sit for a day before using it, and no changes could be detected. It's a great footrest/ottoman for the price point. I already have two, but I haven't ruled out ordering more in the future.

Good for the money. I bought this for my small dog who needs it to jump into and out of bed. She doesn’t like steps but she will use this. It is a soft cover with a good hard sponge material on the inside. I would like to buy more of them in other heights to back up to other furnishings.

This was even better than I anticipated. It is light weybut strong. My 9 year old grandson set on as only a 9 year old would and it is none the worse for wear. We normally use it in front of our loveseat to prop our feet on.Very happy with the product.
