A really sweet baby doll, with a couple of quirks!
When I compare my Reborn Doll I received to the stock photo in the ad, there's some things that bother me a bit. But, I'll start with the Pros, the Cons and then cover what I think of the overall doll.Pros:This doll has a lot of potential, with a soft fabric body. The arms have some nice movement feeling soft and pliable, which is nice when handling the "baby's" hands and arms. The closed eyes actually make this doll seem more alive than if they had been open. The detailing on the nails, and in the creases is remarkable. The included accessories (pictured) provide for a more complete experience.Overall, the positives are, she's better than a lot of dolls out there in detailing, etc. The small nuances I'm going to mention would not prevent me from purchasing this doll, overall. But, would affect my decision in picking a doll out, if I were to see them in person on a shelf, and had a choice in which one I took home with me, based on the details of each artist.Cons: The doll looks like the front of their face, except for the jaw and area covered by the hat, are windburned on the front. The jaw is grey looking in person. The doll's body is lighter than an actual baby would be, so not weighted. The legs and face are not pliable in the ways I might hope for a doll of this caliber to be, whereas the arms are. Now, with this being said, if I put the binkie in the mouth, the hat on the head, that helps with some of this. The overly red cheecks and nose, etc, that one is hard to get around. The painted on hair is a bit off in having disconnected sideburns on one side of the face, and the cowlic starting point in the back of the head is detracting if you don't have on a hat.I didn't plan on covering up parts of the doll to make it more workable. So, the idea of depending on the pacifier, hat, etc, or having to find a way to deal with the sideburn or red face issue, are detracting for me. I will attempt changes. The other major thing for me, which I hope shows up well in the wholebody photo of the doll, is the clear fact that the right leg, left leg, right arm, left arm, were not done by the same people at all. One arm is hyper glossed, the other matt. The legs have the same issue. The coloring on the bottom of one foot is more red, the other is pale. That's a series of inconsistency in the art and detailing that detract from this doll for me.I plan to make the changes to the doll to improve those things, prior to gifting or displaying. But, that's work that I would expect not to have to do when purchasing a reborn doll.I removed one star, because the price point isn't that far off for the doll. I would be concerned giving this to a small child, the way the doll looks. It's a little scary looking at the moment, with the grey jaw, red face, etc. So, I can't just pass those things off that it would still be fine for a smaller child.
