Q: Maximum operating temperature is listed as 104 degrees Fahrenheit: Is this accurate?

I’m sure it takes a higher limit than that. My two are in full sun in NC and they can reach a higher temperature without turning them on. I’m using led lights so temperature is not an issue.

Q: Can I use a sensor light bulb?

You may get results from an E26 40w light activated (dusk to dawn) bulb. I’d think a motion activated bulb wouldn’t work very well due to the frosted lens, however, these are the lowest priced bulkhead light fixtures I’ve found. You’ll be gambling whatever you spend on bulbs so look for a cheap e26/ 40w bulb w/ a sensor on the outside of the bulb instead of the tip of the bulb. Good luck!

Q: Does the junction box need to be fully recessed to install this flush, or will the casing cover a small box?

Mine fully covered a recessed round single gang box.
