Amazingly good value. Lovely mackerel.
Very pleasantly surprised by the quality. I buy a lot of tinned mackerel in olive oil, and despite the comparatively cheap price of these Amazon-branded ones, the fish matched upper middle grade brands. A distinct cut above every supermarket brand, and close to Nuri or Pinhais quality.Actual fillets, rather than a lump. No weird red bits, and plenty of meaty light-coloured flesh, with a little dark flesh too. Very good flavour, not overly salty. The olive oil is of average quality, but not unpleasant. I hope these tins remain available, as I intend to make them a regular purchase.I would just note that the tins arrived slightly oily on the outside. They hadn't leaked at all, so I suppose it's residue from the canning process. I wiped them with kitchen roll before opening.

Interesting fish!
Presentation is hard to beat. Very clean fish - great if you are at all squeamish and only just getting into tinned fish. Very odd though - the fish is in oil but is very dry. How can that be? Is it a particular type of mackerel? Will probably buy again but if just buying for myself will stick to Lidl as taste just as good but even better value.
