Mom's cooking, mom's wisdom
Crying In H Mart...99 Ranch Market, Mitsuwa, Uwajimaya, or wherever. This is a heart-wrenching yet beautiful memoir that makes all Asian people think of their favorite Asian supermarkets, recall their interactions (including conflicts) with their families, especially their moms, and want to pickle kimchi or plums, eat fried rice, wakame seaweed soup, and hot pot dishes. Food is how Asian moms express their love Instead of hugs and saying "I'm proud of you!"It's not just about immigrant families, but also about the complicated relationship between mom and daughter, loss and grief, and rebirth and growth. "The culture we shared was active, effervescent in my gut and in my genes...The lessons she imparted, the proof of her life lived on in me." I wish I had read this book earlier. (John Okada, Amy Tan, Jhumpa Lahiri...Perhaps this is how the stories of Vietnamese, Thai, Laotian, and other Asian peoples will continue to be spun...)I also got interested in the band itself, Japanese Breakfast, which is full of Michelle (Chongmi) Zauner's unique worldview and slightly psychedelic Cranberries-like sound. "Save ten percent of yourself"...What a tasteful broth-like mom's wisdom. Happy (slightly belated) Mother's Day!

Beautiful book
First,I heard her music. Then,I came to be curious about herself. I am Japanese,so,I can not read english books well, but I decided to buy this book because Japanese edition is not published. It was good decision to buy. Through reading this book, I can find fragments of her source of creativities. I love every episode. I love her music moreover. I am satisfied with my choice.日本人の方で、この本を買うか迷われている方!ぜひ買って下さい。素敵な本です。損はありません!
