Does mold build up in the fibers?

NO, i have used mine daily for 2 years and zero mold and i live in florida where we get mold on Everything in 5 minutes, haha. Sometimes i do hang it up on a hook i attached to a towel bar in my shower stall, (i cut a hole, and ran a matching color hair tie through hole to hang this up) but more often, i leave it on floor of tub and i have had zero mold issues at all.

Does the mat come any larger?

No, it doesn't, I had to buy two for the bottom of my shower.

Could the seller please confirm whether the backing is made of actual rubber, as my tub refinisher said that rubber must not touch the tub?

No, it's not rubber. It is made from PVC. In other words, plastic. Please read the seller's product description. This information is included there.

I don't remember seeing any markings on the packaging and the description does not specify. I am assuming China but you could ask the manufacturer, Asvin.
