Beautiful, Durable, Energy saving, very quick and very less sound.
Beautiful, durable and energy saving also. It really cooks very fast. Since there are no unit whistles and instead there is one small continuous whistle as a result there is less sound and splashing of contents. It can also be made to cool down really fast. It might be more costlier than other cookers but Futura sub brand is the best quality, most beautiful and extremely durable product by Hawkins. Also we have used Hawkins brand cookers over generations and I can vouch that parts like, gasket, fuse and other parts are easily available.

Excellent as usual
This is our family's second Futura, the first one was a 3L non-induction model purchased a few decades ago. Since we are used to cooking in Futuras, this was instantly familiar, but lighter and with a wider mouth to allow ease of the initial saute. A decent upgrade over the older one, which has been half-destroyed by our cook, who often forgets to add water.Just like the older one, this does not 'whistle'. The whole point of a pressure cooker is to allow fast cooking at lower fuel usage, by way of maintaining a constant pressure inside the vessel. The common practice of counting 'whistles' is erroneous and redundant. Pressure cooking is about pressure and time, so once it reaches full pressure you need to back down the burner to simmer and let it sit for the length of time the ingredients needs to cook (usually a function of weight, with some exceptions, notably pulses and grains). By constantly releasing pressure, you use more fuel, need more fluid and waste more fuel. Pressure cooker steam release is not an indicator of any sort. This is regardless of what kind of pressure cooker you are using. The steel surface makes for easy cleaning, and the induction base makes it quite versatile. Since it's brand new, the fit is tight and it reaches full pressure very quickly. As the seals get softer it will improve a bit. My first run with a mutton curry went swimmingly, and I know this will last a few decades like its predecessor.

But I brought this under pressure from the family and have to admit it is one of the best made utensils I own apart from my old cast ...
I am not too fond of pressure cookers because I find it cooks too fast and generally doesn't allow the food to absorb and develop flavours. But I brought this under pressure from the family and have to admit it is one of the best made utensils I own apart from my old cast iron dutch oven. Firstly, its thick stainless steel walls absorbs heat very quick and sustains it for longer with no excessive hot spots which tends to cook unevenly and ruins tricky recipesThe cooker weight design is a little unusual and may need practice for some. I hardly ever cook using pressure but this utensil is so good that I am learning that if put on pressure at the right time depending on what is being cooked, it cooks very well without the loss of flavour that happens in most other aluminium or thin-walled utensils. Truly worth the extra price just for the quality, design and the joy of learning to use a great new tool.

Great build
Cooker is good... The only problem is getting used to. No whistles so you have to guess whether the food is cooked or not based on time. It can be difficult to track if you are doing multiple tasks in kitchen.

Not satisfied with the handle attached to the lid..it's very very weak..
Thickness of the pressure cooker is extremely fine..very heavy one..looks premium..stainless steel quality is fantastic..outlook is superb..but..the handle attached to this premium cooker looks very very ugly and weak..Hence l would give 4 stars out of 5..

An Exceptional Cooker
This Hawkins Futura Pressure Cooker appears to be an exceptionally good piece of kit to have in my kitchen. I bought the bigger version, the 5.5 litre capacity cooker. The lids actually closes from the inside giving this a solid seal. We previously bought a Prestige pressure cooker and never used it because it felt fiddly, and cumbersome. This Hawkins on the other hand gives me a sense of security. From my physics calculations, there is about a 1000 kg (yes 1 ton) of force inside a cooker when it is being used! This ‘Futura’ looks like it will handle the job. I am only going to use it for briskets and other meat joints. So I am pleased with the cavernous internal volume. I am also glad that it does not comes with more cluttering internal compartments etc. I don’t want to pay for those when I don’t need them. I am never going to do vegan preparations with lentils and other high oxalate poisons!! I am all for a carnivorous diet. Fantastic product! I have seen Prestige pressure cooker in John Lewis but not this brand Hawkins. Even though this is twice as expensive as other brands, I still think this is fantastic value for money. Highly recommended.

Best of all pressure cookers I have used!
Using it for a month and 4 to 5 times a week. Its a very good product. Sauteing before pressure cooking is much better than other stainless steel utensils I have. Also I own 3 other hawkin pressure cookers 2 of which are hard anodized futura and one is normal Hawkins pressure cooker in different sizes for almost 10 years but now I don't use any other one. Hawkins is the best pressure cooker brand!

Don't buy - the product has major design flaws
I purchased this cooker because I plan to transition to induction cooking very soon. I've used Hawkins cookers in the past and found them to be of good quality. However, this cooker has a serious defect that other reviewers have also mentioned - it leaks steam from the rim. I didn't notice this defect the first couple of times I used it. But I started noticing it during subsequent use. I returned the cooker and Amazon accepted my return even though the return date had passed. Thank you Amazon for providing excellent customer support.

Problem with the whistle
I bought this last year and already started problem with the whistle, there is a leakage of steam where the rubber gasket and the steam is escaping and food is not getting cooked or getting burned because the steam is leaking. I really wish Amazon takes the action of the faulty product. Not sure if I can return?
