Makita 9566CV 6" SJS™ High-Power Cut-Off/Angle Grinder

9566 is geared differently than the 9564 and 9565 which are the same grinder with differing shroud sizes on the blade guard. The 9566 rpm range is reduced to 4,000 - 9,000 which makes the tool last much longer and run cooler. The soft start on this tool is the best of any grinder I have used and much smoother than the 4 1/2 and 5 inch grinders Makita makes. It also has much more torque than most other 13amp grinders. If Makita's warranty covered their tools in the stone business it would be the best grinder Ive had in 16 years of working the stone business. Right now its a toss up between it and the Milwaukee variable speed 5 inch grinder. Makita's warranty isn't quite as good and replacement parts are high, and the Milwaukee has a poorly designed on/off switch but has great torque and wide rpm band.

The 6" blade allows a deeper cut. Especially helpful in cases where the pipe is against a wall. The variable speed control allows to keep the speed low which add to the safety.

Really like this tool, bought it to work on a mining equipment project. Cut the welded brackets off in short order. It's light, quick and fast, get's the job done. Even put a diamond wheel on it and cut rocks like butter.

This grinder is excellent. My old 4" Mikita was to small to reach into the reces of the control arm mount of the old car I am redoing. This grinder is 1/2" larger in diameter than the readily availiabe grinders at the big box stores and was just the ticket. The 7" is a monster and not a option. The soft start and variable speed are a well designed perk.

I bought this grainer on December of 2019 but I just open the box last Friday to used it but after 2 minutes I turn it on to star working the grainer starts burning and stop working., my question is : can I return it and get another one? Please let me know. Thank you

The way a grinder should be. I've cut tons of stone, steel, aluminum, plastic.... and it's always something I look forward to. Starts up smooooth like butta. The clutch keeps thin cut-off wheels from exploding and impaling my flesh. Can't speak for the guard as mine is long gone. I love yu makita. Another worthy addition to my huge makita arsenal.
