this A/B switch accepts 2 RJ45 connectors as input and 1 RJ45 connector as output. Each RJ45 uses 4 pairs of wire (8 wires).the image shown is slightly confusing, since it actually shows 2 switch boxes stacked on each other: one on top (front view) and one on the bottom (rear view).

You have just answered your own question....what you see is actually two boxes, one on top of the other, one showing what the box looks like from the front(the single big round knob) and the rear (the three line connections on the back). When you order the switch, you get just one box.

No, it does not have any mounting holes. You might could take the top cover off a drill a couple of holes and mount it in a vertical position.

You would want to use the common on this switch and feed that into the common on your 5 port switch, then that should work just fine.
