Product Care Instructions | Keep plants well-watered during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Plants need about 1-2 inches of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It's best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level. If you water with overhead sprinklers, water early in the day so the foliage has time to dry off before evening, to minimize disease problems. Keep the soil moist but not saturated. |

Every seed I planted sprouted!
These seeds are from quality genetics; I bought the seeds on August 29th and today on September 23rd I have plants that are about 7 inches tall. The only problem I have was that I wasn't expecting a 100% germination rate so now I have loofa plants growing everywhere!

Product
I’m excited to see these grow. They’re already about 4 inches tall. It will be interesting to see what loofa really looks like from a seed.

I know they germinate. lol
I am not sure how many seeds came in a package. My local stores were not carrying this product so I bought it off amazon. Some did germinate. They are a couple inches high right now. I dont know the quality of the product yet besides it will grow. I dont know if it will produce any produce.I posted a pic to show what they look like right now. It took a few weeks for them to get this big. I am not sure how fast they are supposed to grow.

Poor quality seeds, bad batch
I planted all the seeds and none of them were successful. I have great soil and everything I plant has a very high success rate. I cannot understand why not one of these seeds sprouted. It was a wasted purchase for me, I will try a different vendor next time.

No sprouts.
I dont know if it's me or the seeds. I tried planting a slew of the seeds twice in two different recommended ways and neither sprouted. I also read rhey can be temperamental

Fabulous! Extra Seeds! Plus, they All Sprouted and are Growing Strong!!
I'm thrilled that I chose Burpee for my Luffa seeds. I had searched around for a couple of weeks because Luffas are a bit more expensive than most of the seeds I buy. I didn't want to pay for them and have many of them not grow.Thankfully, I stuck with the Burpee name and was not disappointed. I sprouted them in a hex seed planter with 32 spots. I used coco coir for my soil and thoroughly soaked it before adding the seeds. To my immense pleasure, there were extra seeds in my packet! I had enough to fill each of the 32 hexagons and even had 1 leftover! I set each seed on top of the soaking wet coir & then lightly sprinkled damp coir over the seed. Then, I sprayed with additional water and covered them with plastic wrap (under the plastic topper). I removed the plastic wrap within 2 days and am currently using just the clear 3" tall topper.Surprisingly, 97% of my seeds sprouted in 2 days! The others followed closely behind. It's now been 1 week and almost all of my Luffa plants are between 2 and 3 inches tall! I couldn't be happier!!I'm looking forward to a wonderful crop of Luffa Sponges this fall. If you are debating which seeds to buy, go with Burpee, you can't go wrong. They are all fresh, viable, and healthy. I can't wait to post some pictures when I get a chance.Oh... If you are thinking about buying your seeds locally, good luck! I spent a few days and dozens of stops driving around my area trying to find Luffa Seeds. I couldn't find a single spot that carried them. Hopefully, they catch on, more people want to grow them, and the seeds become easier to find... But, in the meantime, look no further than this page for Awesome Luffa seeds!
