Solid metal
I’ll put a smallrig cage on any end every camera I own, they’re solid, practical and and overall improvement to stability and durability. Using one on an A6400, A7Sii, and even the Osmo Action. Excellent value!

Don't buy for the a5000
really nice case but it is not for the a5000. it will fit BUT you will have issues reaching the on/off switch and also the power button. the battery bay wont release either as the camera is a tad bit smaller than the cage there for it block the battery door for releasing

Saved me already a couple times, but prevents some accessories from being installed in hot shoe
This saved my Sony a6000 from ruin at least once when it dropped on the concrete outside due to my error in not fully tightening the camera to the tripod. The frame is sturdy and I can say from experience that it works as intended. The a6000 isn't exactly a sturdy camera itself in build quality, and I'm sure many of us have some big, heavy lenses that might put stress on this camera body. I don't use mics or other things, but the cold shoe is a nice thing to have and so are the numerous holes for installing other accessories. The camera fits tight into the frame and there were no issues for me in installing my tripod's arca-Swiss mounting plate on the bottom. And the price is hard to complain about. Now for my only complaint: I'm a professional real estate photographer who uses speed lights with wireless triggers daily, but I can't use my Yongnuo flash trigger, or even the flash itself, on the camera because the top of the SmallRig cage sits too high and prevents me from sliding the trigger into the hot shoe. There just is no clearance. While I got around this by installing the trigger in the hot shoe backwards, it now obstructs my view of the screen unless I tilt it just so, and it's difficult to tighten and loosen it from the hot shoe when mounted this way. To work 100% properly you're better off buying a hot shoe extension, but your mileage may vary depending on how much you use the hot shoe for flash triggers and how much you want to spend extra money on an item that allows you to use hot shoe accessories without installing them improperly--I don't know if other accessories will even work by installing them backwards. This would be a five-star review if not for the hot shoe difficulties. Otherwise, I don't regret the purchase.
