Best 2m Ham Radio
This is a great ham radio for the 2m and 70cm frequencies. Just got this radio today, and even though it took me a few to figure it out; it is a fairly easy to use radio. I would like to recommend this radio to anyone that wants a great mobile radio. Great price as well.

Keep The Head Out of the sun
No mounting hardware for the removable head and keep the head out of the sun when not in car if its hot outside. Otherwise its a awesome radio and can talk around the world on dstar.

great radio, but watch out, like buying a car, is the rust protection, or steering wheel included in the price?
I love this radio, out of every portable i have owned or used , this one is awesome, great radio. quality , ease of use, excellent, 5 stars hands down. Price good, id say about right , considering it has been out for awhile now and the 7100 includes HF. for not all that much more, considering. The negatives , I can only find two complaints what so ever with this rig. 1. if you are wanting this radio for its DSTAR capabilities, which work fantastically, better than fusion or moto.... IMO, make sure there is a DSTAR repeater near where you intend to use it the most. Though it seems at least in my area there are more Dstar repeaters available than the others, still not near as many out there as I would have figured, if you live near a major city you will have no problems im assuming by what i can see, but suburbs could be a problem. There are dongles out there that will fix that problem for you,( in the area of about $200) if you like that sorta thing , me personally ,,, dongles just seem to be going away from the whole radio feel just a lil to much. 2, IMO, if you spend as much as this for a radio , you should not have to be buying the basic accessories , and at IMO, inflated prices for such, like a mounting bracket $40.00, ridiculous, and a face plate holder mount, well if your going to make a radio that needs a way of holding the face module, so it does not fly around the car, then it should have been included , not a $70.00 add on, crazy, I made both my ACCESSORIES my self , for a fraction of that cost. Also the bluetooth option is great , if u want to control or operate the unit with say a tablet, i use a galaxy 4 tab, works well, i can send text, pictures and view maps , to name a couple great features. But again over a hundred dollars for the BT module, when there are (shade tree mechanic types) that are making and selling these same lil modules for about $25, i think again ICOM is maybe taking advantage of its customers, and then the ear piece again same story. Those are only drawbacks /negatives I could find, only 2 PRICE of Accessories, and amount of Dstar repeaters available., but they are a big two. Big enough I will at least be looking at other options for my next mobile. 73s

Love this radio mounting harware not withstanding
I like the features. Of the radio but there is a little learning curve at least for me.-Touch Screen is nice-on-screen keyboard makes things easy-Crossband Repeater is easy to access-The head cable appears to be a standard 6-pin RJ11 cable.I dislike the following.-The radio comes without ANY mounting brackets-$35-$50 for the head mount and $35 for the body mount-The new microphone (HM-207) is too simple. I miss having all the various controls where the number keys are.

Good radio but control panel backlight and screen setup is very poor
1. Radio has good functionality2. Lack of mounting brackets delayed my install, but I was pleased to see that the control head mounting uses magnets. I bought a longer cable and mounted the control head on my Car's (Mustang) overhead console, with the radio in the trunk. Worked out very well. The display on the control console is terrible. Instead of light-up characters, the background is lit. Aht lights up the interior of the car at night, is harder to read quickly (while driving) because of eye adjustment, etc. It would look and function SO MUCH BETTER if the characters were lit, on a dark background. This is my biggest disappointment.
