Bought this so I could boot my Dell PE 710 from SATA instead of USB (since I'm running ProxMox and didn't want to boot from the SAS Array) and it works perfectly. There's even holes at the back to transfer the little blue clip from the blanking plate that my R710 came with onto this, so it also clips in properly.There's no proper front panel on this though so if you're proper worried about how your R710 will look afterwards, then it might not be for you. But there is a nice green LED that lights up when the disk is accessed and it works a treat. If your R710 didn't have any ODD (DVD) device in place and just had the blank like mine did, then you'll need to get yourself the cable too from somewhere.

I installed this in my Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF and it worked wonders. I don't have much use for a disc tray and I needed more space so I bought this.No issues on the installation and it can even use the cover on the old drive to make it look like there is still a disc tray in there as not to ruin the aesthetics.This isn't the most premium feeling product, but at £4, it beats any competitors out there. You also won't be handling it more than once, assuming you're happy with the drive that's installed.Just make sure you get the right version. Desktop PCs use the 12.7mm version but I'm not sure what laptops use.Overall I'd recommend this product to anybody who can only have one drive and a disc tray. I'm using a 250gb OS drive and 1 tb 2.5" drive and they work perfectly together.

Worked perfectly. Who would have thought it would be so easy. Few bios issues with very old laptop. Ended up with primary drive in this caddy due to the bios. Tight fit though. Laptop cd drive panel clipped on to it fine. Looks like the drive is still there. Just a great product/idea.

Was a bit worried this wouldn’t be up to much given it’s low cost, but turns out it’s pretty good. Fits my Sony laptop perfectly. Even the bezel fits into the front so it still looks like the original optical drive is there.I definitely recommend this product...

I bought this to put a 2nd HDD in a Dell Optiplex 9020 as it has a small (SFF) case and not much room/options for upgrade.I have an external DVD writer so replacing the optical drive and using its SATA connections in the Dell was the obvious choice.It comes with everything you need to do the job including (inside the HDD bay of the caddy) a tool that is a micro phillips screwdriver and on the other end is the tool for removing the DVD slot cover as you will need to put this part on the caddy to make it look like a DVD drive.It was an easy installation (took not much more than 5 minutes) and am happy with my purchase.

Stopped working after 1 month. Faulty unit? maybe. But warranty is not supported by Amazon and getting in touch with manufacturer is not shown on the caddy.

Used it to install a 2.5 inch SSD. The metal felt very light and hollow. Although the installation was a bit finicky, it works as intended.
